THE DJ
DJ Ginge was born in Harlow Essex before later moving to Cambridgeshire. Music has been a huge part of her life from an early age and she developed a passion for rhythm creativity and performance long before stepping behind the decks.
Growing up she took private music lessons and learned to play a variety of instruments including the drums flute violin and guitar. Although she loved music she often found traditional instruments difficult. It wasn't until she discovered DJing that she found the perfect way to express herself through music.
Her love for Drum & Bass was heavily influenced by her family but it was around the age of 16 while studying at college that she truly immersed herself in the genre. A self-confessed Drum & Bass head DJ Ginge is best known for her love of Jump Up although she is equally capable of playing across multiple genres.
As someone with autism Ginge found that the high-energy sound of Jump Up Drum & Bass perfectly matched her personality and passion for music. At the age of 20 she taught herself to mix using six decks a unique skill that remains a key part of her performances today.
Over the years DJ Ginge has performed for major brands and events including Next Hype Ministry of Sound Rough Tempo and Innovation. At just 19 years old she opened for Turno on his DNA Tour and by the age of 21 she had shared the stage with Eksman and Dreps.
Health challenges forced Ginge to rethink her future and career but through college she realised that music was where she truly belonged. From that moment she committed herself to DJing and music production turning her passion into her profession.
THE MUSIC
DJ Ginge's first opportunity came while she was studying at college after being spotted by promoters searching for DJs to perform at an event in Peterborough. Having only recently turned 18 she found herself sharing a line-up with Magistrate and Dreps an experience that opened the door to countless opportunities.
That first booking allowed her to build lasting friendships and connections within the Drum & Bass community many of whom she continues to work alongside today. With guidance from a close friend she refined her mixing skills while exploring the many sub-genres of Drum & Bass including Jump Up Rollers and Liquid eventually discovering the style that suited her best.
Her first radio appearance came on Rough Tempo playing on Tripsta's Tuesday Show before going on to feature on Jumped Up Audio Rough Tempo Intense Flavours Bellyman's show on Origin and Code Red.
Alongside her radio appearances DJ Ginge has performed for respected event brands including Detonation Xcentric Events and Skirmish as well as many other events across the UK. She now proudly holds a residency with Skirmish something she considers one of the highlights of her journey so far.
DJ Ginge continues to grow as both a DJ and producer bringing energy passion and her own unique twist to Drum & Bass every time she steps behind the decks.
